THY
KINGDOM
COME
History of the Land - April 1989
89Mar11 1:22 am from Dan Johnson
Good News - Bad News
Death Has arrived to The Kingdom. On the King's Orders, Captain Max D. Troll
gave chase to the Undead that have been reported round the Capital and slew
both Suess and Merlin. Long Live The King!
On the more serious side, this newer version will be implemented as soon as I
find out what Passwords you'all would like for your characters, which is
another feature to the new version. Let the Battle Rage!

Some interesting bugs in latest version (not yet installed online). If the
character that is killed is the last character entry on file, then the little
bugger keeps getting up for more! I have a good idea what the bug is, yet do
you think it may be an interesting edge to leave the newest player for awhile?
89Mar13 6:34 pm from Chris Forgeron
Hmm...can't change loyalty when in a populated text.
89Mar16 3:23 pm from Darren Boucher
I killed both Merlin and Seuss. I tried to get King Fredrick but he equals me
at the least. One thing, after I killed Seuss and came back he was still there
except hi loyalty was undead. Is this your UnDead thing you were talking
about? If it is I would prefer it wasn't there so we can wipe people out!
Tobor the Conquerer!
89Mar16 3:37 pm from Darren Boucher
Alas, King Tobor I.
Fredrick is no more...
As Tobor wipes royal blood from his battle axe.
89Mar17 6:43 pm from Dan Johnson
OK let the Revolt Begin. King Fredrick I was killed by Tobor, who now has a
price on his head by the King's son King Fredrick II. Anyone who can take him
out of action will get 1000 credits from the King. These will not go against
experience points. However any sum that he has on him will. The time has come
to use the Loyalty Flags. King Fredrick II has taken the throne in the capital
at 973, still loyal himself to his father's memory. The transition of power
could be peaceful or a bloody one depending on the degree of cooperation of
those still within and coming into the Capatal
89Mar17 7:03 pm from Dan Johnson
The new King is sending word to The Troll King to bring funds to the Capital.
This will take some time as the Troll Capital is a good month's journey away,
and then there is the return. If the Troll Party is encountered it could be
unlimited wealth or sure death to the encountering party...
89Mar17 7:41 pm from Dan Johnson
Prince Bardia has changed his Loyalty to the new hier to the throne, King
Fredrick II and all of his troops in Bardia have followed suit. The Troll King
and all of the other Trolls have sworn alliagence as well, except for Captain
Max D. Troll who is still loyal to the memory of King Fredrick; due to the
situation in the Capital where he is at present.
Sergant Talloff has begun the trek to the Troll Capital to take a message of
more gold supply to the Troll King. It was thought too risky to send the
message by smoke signal, as the new succession had been.
89Mar17 9:26 pm from Dan Johnson
The Credit bug has been fixed, in case you rebels are thinking of arming up.
:-)
The backdoor of interactions, ie choosing to make a Bulliten and then choosing
interaction instead will probably still work for battles. I thought that I
would leave it until I get a better interaction by choice thing worked out. I
shall have to separate PRBULL.CHN into two different .CHN Files I guess.
89Mar17 9:28 pm from Dan Johnson
For all players who have not sent me a special password for thier character, I
have used the first four letters of the character's name. If you want that
changed let me know.
89Mar17 10:03 pm from Dan Johnson
The reason that the hit points were not looking like subtractions were being
made was because you were not using a genuine encounter, but that backdoor
technique Darren. In a normal encounter the hit points are deducted correctly.
I think that you will find that the hit points are not deducted from either in
the backdoor technique, so let's try to keep this Rebelion as honorable as
possible. :-)
89Mar17 10:12 pm from Chris Forgeron
Well, Fire Elf being a friend of Tobor, since we were the first few here from
the 'creation' of this world, has decided to stay netural to the syaying
olaying of a great king.
89Mar17 1:52 am from Dan Johnson
The bug was left in that although you are notified that the movements for that
seesion are over, you can continue. I am not certain however that the Board is
updated after that point. I feel it should be yet am not certain. Until I
check it out for sure it would be wiser to exit game and re-boot. As most of
you are either in the Capital or around it, I see no problem for now... except
of course for the Troll Hunters. :-)
89Mar17 1:55 am from Dan Johnson
Captain Max D. Troll was sent outside the surrounding countryside of the
Capital to hunt out Tobor The Rebel. He had no luck, and apon returning he was
notified by guards at the gates that a man fitting that description and
carrying a Battle Axe was seen entering the Capital.
89Mar17 2:00 am from Dan Johnson
The Bulliten Entry and Interaction Menu have been broken up into two seperate
CHAIN Files to avoid confusion, as well as other things. :-)
89Mar17 8:54 pm from Dan Johnson
Sergant Talloff was as surprised as myself when he ran into Booner on the way
to The Troll King's Castle. As he would not change his loyalty from himself
to the new King, and as Sergant Talloff is always looking for a few more
experience points they went into Battle. Booner held out well considering that
he only had the issue Daggar as weapon, yet alas he finally fell to the
Sergant's blade and has expired. The Sergant continued on 100GPs richer and
very near to his destination.
89Mar17 8:57 pm from Dan Johnson
The King has issued a decree that any citizen in the Capital that will leave
to the neighboring hexes (Type 8) and remain there until loyalty changes are
made in the Capital will recieve 100GPs. They will have to change thier
loyalty to King Fredrick II during this process and will be notified in this
room when the change is complete. After that change they will be payed by
Captain Max D. Troll thier 100GPs and remembered favorably by the King.
Long Live King Fredrick II!!!!
89Mar17 5:58 am from Darren Boucher
Maybe someday if I can outrun them we can form a team to kill Fredrick II.
89Mar19 6:54 pm from Dan Johnson
Until Healing is implemented Hit Points may be reclaimed at the cost of one
Gold Piece per Hit Point to a maximum of 100 Hit Points. Just raise me with
chat to do any healing.
89Mar19 6:54 pm from Dan Johnson
Sergant Talloff has made it to the Troll Capital and is now on his return.
89Mar19 7:12 pm from Dan Johnson
There is a bug when encounters are made. I have noticed it in Credit Exchange.
The movements are not recorded on the board afterwards it seems. I am not
clear with it and would appreciate any other observations.
A lot of the Board housekeeping hassles will be avoided using scans of the
Character Files for Board Occupation. Then there should be no conflict, yet
this way is good at this stage of testing, to make sure all movements are done
correctly, as if the two do not jive the move is not recorded properly. It
will also save scads of room by not having to carry the population of the
field, in the hex record.
89Mar19 12:42 am from Robbie Parker
Looking for a few godod bounty hunters to serve for the new king. Any willing
and daring souls?
89Mar19 1:04 am from Dan Johnson
A commotion was heard in the southeast section of the Capital today. Captain
Max D. Troll had no sooner left the City when fighting broke out in that
section. Martin The Vile was found critically wounded. He had multiple Battle
Ax wounds. Tobor The Rebel is suspected, yet Martin was unconscious to give
further details.
89Mar19 12:10 pm from Dan Johnson
I would like some feedback on a change that I am thinking of implementing. It
seems unrealistic that now that King Fredrick I is dead, that anyone should
still be loyal to him. This doesn't mean that they should automatically be
loyal to King Fredrick II either.
What I was thinking is that I would implement a search through the character
files everytime a character was killed. This search would look for any other
character(s) that had the dead character's name in thier loyalty field. Any
characters that met such a match would have thier loyalty field set to the
value NOTHING. I mean by that the seven character string "NOTHING". They could
then change it to whatever they pleased when they next logged on, providing of
course that they were not in an occupied hex.
Suggestions/Objections?
89Mar19 12:38 pm from JASON FOSTER
HEY ALL there is a new menance in town if he can ever find his way to
town!
==>ENFORCER
89Feb21 1:57 pm from Darren Boucher
Dan: very good idea.
When can we get together to add wandering monsters.
you new people better watch out now because Tobor the Rebel as the king calls
him is going out. I will give you one day to change your loyalty to Tobor or I
will seek you out and do to you as I did the king. Help me revolt against this
new King and I will pay you each 2000 GP. First step is to become loayl to me
and help clear out the capital. Those that do so let me know!
89Feb21 2:03 pm from Darren Boucher
It is too late to save you. One who attacks Tobor signs his deathwish. See you
in hell buddy.
89Feb21 2:34 pm from Darren Boucher
Oh yes, Anybody that wants to be friends with Tobor, you show me proof that
you killed Marting The Vile and I may consider sharing a bit of my Kingdom
when I finally get it.
Tobor the Valiant
89Feb21 4:33 pm from Darren Boucher
Tobor has begun to form his army, Arrack Ackblade was in my way. Although I
must admit he was pretty skilled with his broad sword he was not match for
Tobor's mighty Battle Axe.
Also I have found one of Martin's Henchmen. If he is there when I get back, he
is a dead man along with any of Martin's men I find. Does this mean even
Martin is building an army?
well I'll stop that one right at the top!
Pledge alligience to Tobor or die!
Tobor
89Feb21 5:23 pm from Dan Johnson
The corpse of the honorable Arrak Akblade was found outside the Capital walls.
His wounds resembled Martin The Vile's, who is still unconscious. It is
suspected that Tobor The Rebel is responsible .
89Mar21 5:35 pm from Darren Boucher
Suspected. I tell you I am responsible! Anybody else want to oppose Tobor,
hold on now I have to go kill Killer Karl who seems to be loyal to Martin the
Vile. Sure I'd rather kill Martin but I haven't been able to get a hold of him
yet.
89Mar21 6:16 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
there, I have killed "KILLER KARL" as I will do to anyone that sides with that
swine Martin the Vile. Join me now or die.
In case the buddy beside Killer Karl thinks I didn't see him, think again, I
just decided to be generous and let you live.
89Mar21 7:33 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Well all is at last restored to normal in the Capital. It all happened
quite by fluke. There seemed to be a problem with Tobor Jr., who had been
born and spent all his days in the Capital and knew it like the back of his
hand. He refused to leave (no doubt on Tobor Sr.'s prompting) and the King
had decided to Move the seat of Goverment to Bardia, where the Prince of
Bardia was waiting with open arms.
The procession began to move out of the capital towards the West,
leaving the forces surrounding the Capital to defend it and decide it's
outcome. One of the force, Dan Son of John, when entering from the North
West, found Tobor Jr. out in the light of day.
Well as fierce a daggar fight that the Capital has ever seen ensued. And it
must be said that Tobor Jr. put up a fight that his Rebel father could be
proud of, indeed. Yet the younger character that he was, it was only a
matter of time until Dan Son of John wore him down... until he at last he
expired.
The procession was notified and returned in great honor to take oaths from
all those assembled, to King Fredrick II.
Long Live The King!!!!
The King was so jubulant that he gave a reward of 500GPs to Dan Son of John
and had his physician heal Martin The Vile back to health...
89Mar21 10:17 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
Dan son of John, with a dagger, no less. I had stumbled upon you before, next
time I wont be so merciful. you are a dead man as well. You are number 2, no
forget it I'm going to get you first, Martin can have a few more days to run.
89Mar21 10:18 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
Not now though, I'm waiting to hear from my army, attack me now you brave
idiots!

89Mar22 10:18 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Elmir The Troll entered the Capital early thismorning. He had put a forced
march on leaving Sergant Talloff, his second gaurd, behind him, yet he too
should be arriving later in the day.
The King was very pleased, now, to not only have the Capital in order once
again, but to also have the Gold nessasary to deal with this Tobor and his
Rebel Rabel. He commisioned Martin The Vile as a Sergant of the Gaurds and has
placed five men at his disposal, with credits enough to outfit them as he may
wish. His orders are to seek out the last remnants of this abortive uprising
and bring him thier heads.
89Mar22 11:23 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Fitness Units will be found in all Castle/Towns (Terrain Type 9). In these

How'd I gete access???
89Mar22 3:20 pm from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
As you requested your majesty, the head of Tobor. It seems that when I sent
my man Tracker out to find him and report back he was not able to get away in
time so he engaged him in combat and as you can see brought back his
head.
LONG LIVE KING FREDRICK II!!!
89Mar22 3:59 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Access is given by either myself or Darren, as one needs to be invited to this
room at The Mall, where the Door is accessed. Up to now it has been limited to
GMs. This has been primarily because I am very new to this type of gaming
(D&D) and I thought in Alpha Test stages, having GMs to guide me along would
be the best players, to achieve an online, program generated game, that would
most resemble current RPGs.
We have moved into Beta Test Stage now, with a fairly workable set of
interaction routines, that still need some ironing out, but for the moment get
the job done. All that I ask of Darren is that he make a few obvious bugs that
are still imbedded in the code appearent to the new player. This will avoid
unnessasary housecleaning of the files, by myself. Two big ones are:
1) Keep some weapon in the right hand AT ALL TIMES. This is the weapon that
will be used to calculate damage, and without anything there a fatal crash
will ensue.
2) Do not move to hexes farther north than the 1000 series nor to the South
father than 1-53 range. Going farther in either direction will, at present
take the player off the Board and require housecleaning of the files on my
part.
There is the obvious third, have fun and Long Live The King!!!
89Mar22 4:08 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The Capital is abuzz with the news of Tobor The Rebel's death. The fight is
retold again and again, in every drinking hole in the city, each time becoming
slightly more embellished. If anyone should know the inside story, it is those
at the Fitness Unit, who nursed Tracker back to health. He had 33 of his
original 100 Hit Points left, when he arrived on thier door. That and the many
Battle Ax wounds, tells that the fight was a long and gruesome one.
The King is very pleased by his new Sergant of The Gaurd, Martin The Vile and
has hinted of installing him in his own Fiefdom, to be called apon in times of
need.
Long Live The King!!!
89Mar22 5:57 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Meanial Work Option has been installed, to help new players get a start. It
and the Fitness Unit are found in the Market Area of all Towns and Castles.
89Mar22 5:58 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The King has given the location to Martin The Vile of a vacant castle where he
can set up his fiefdom.
89Mar22 8:36 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Dan:
I think someone should be able to be loyal to a dead person. Many people are
still loyal to the King of England, though he is dead..
89Mar22 8:47 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Fire Elf, while wandering through the fine land watching the pitiful humans
go to a petty war, encountered Albernathy. Albernathy was one of the few good
men who still remembered the great King King Fredrick, to who Fire Elf admired
very much. Upon trying to pass he was barred access. Fire Elf gave a few
warning blows to scare the vallent, but stupid warrier away, but was in vain.
The battle raged on, but Fire Elf had under-estimated his opponent. The whole
time he was trying to scare him away, Albernathy would re-gain his Life Force
through mystic healing powers. Soon Fire Elf fell to Albernathy's weapon. Fire
Elf's body was consumed by fire, as the internal Magic sought to preserve what
was left of the old Elf, who was as old as the land that we now walk. It is
not known if Fire Elf's magic is strong enough to bring him back from the
dead, or if this wanderer is truely dead.
Dan: I noticed that if you beat someone down, leave the hex, then come back,
they are back to full HP... not good.
89Mar22 9:46 pm from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
Majesty, I have returned to ask you if there are any more people you want out
of your hair. My men are eager for action and appear to be low on funds. We
also ask if there are any men that wish to join my band.
89Mar22 10:16 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Abernathy is indeed a very special fellow. As old as the Kingdom itself, he
has great powers, normally only found in ledgens. He is an egg that's tuff to
crack, yet crackable all the same. There are many hidden secrets behind that
thick shell...
89Mar23 1:42 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
You can now BUY your own Fiefdom. This has been installed for two reasons.
1) To get my meadling hands out of the Kingdom.
2) To take care of Turbo Pascal 3's 32000 maximum integer value. Character's
that should ever approach that point in creditsa, would be advised to buy
themselves a Fiefdom and avoid a I/O Error 10 everytime they logged on.
A few more additions and the Throne shall automatically go to the character
who has the most character's loyal to him.
89Mar23 1:58 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Chris:
I too think that one could be loyal to the memory of someone that is dead.
Would not a Christain be loyal to Christ? Yet they may argue that he is not
truely dead, yet no matter...
The thing is that in the game it can cause greif. Especially when you consider
inactive characters. When Tobor The Dearly Departed took out King Fredrick I,
such an upset took place. The new King nor even Tobor, could have the loyalty
of the Capital until everyone either moved out of the Capital, was killed or
changed loyalty and then came back into the Capital. Little Tobor Jr. almost
brought the goverment to it's knees by simply not moving.
I thought at least if thier loyalty flags were set to "NOTHING" then in the
code a character with Loyalty to "NOTHING" could be a special case. Overlooked
in such matters and no doubt useful in others not yet encountered.
While we're on it though, should the loyalty only be to characters or any 39
character string? Like concepts such as SELF, LOVE, PEACE or HARMONY. I have
this picture of a communal hex of hippies... must be my youth shining through.
:-)
89Mar23 2:03 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Robbie:
The King has suggested that if your boys *really* want some action they could
always scout out any other characters that have loyalty other than that of
King Fredrick II. If they have any money on them, they get it, Plus funds
aquired that way go against experience points and will raise thier level
automatically. Any good Lord of the realm would have a map of the Kingdom.
Just a few thoughts to put Revolt out of your mind. :-)
89Mar23 5:15 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I have entered a new routine that gives a hex cluster, with the hex that your
character is on in the center and the six adjacent hexes. For now I have it
showing the hex nubers of the adjacent hexes. I am very anxious what this will
look like to remote sites. If all works fine, I can then add a menu to have
the number of the hexes printed on the map, the terrain features, the
population, etc.. The great part that although I only have a cluster being
generated (7 hexes), the routines are generic enough to fill a complete
screen!
89Mar23 5:16 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
If there should be problems with screen configurations, try MORTAL.COM which
is a PD terminal package in the Download room. It is designed to support
Pascal Screen manipulations.
89Mar23 5:19 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Oh yeah, if a four didget hex is attempted to be entered on the map the fourth
didget is overwritten by a dot at present, so don't be alarmed by that.
89Mar23 11:54 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
A few of the last character entries may have been lost, due to me trying to
run Thy Kingdom Come in too small a memory space. The Linked Pointer List that
was saved, was therefore not complete. I think that it affected only
characters created today. I shall have to remember to back up each day during
this testing stage.
I guess this is a sign from somewhere to free up all that space, waisted
carrying the population of the hex. That should free 1104 Bytes. Allowing tem
more characters at least.
Darren, please give me a count of any that you invite from here on in. There
will be two coming back to find no characters (The Monette Twins) so try not
to surpass 8 more for now.
89Mar23 12:04 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Every cloud has a silver lining however, FIRE ELF has resurected himself. I'm
sure it more due to his majic powers than anything real worldly, like the
backup was from a couple of days ago. :-)
Haven't checked Tobor yet... oh boy, could be trouble...
89Mar23 3:55 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
OK I've cleaned out a lot of deadwood NPCs so there should be room for the
more character creation. I will start to change over from Text to Structured
Files now that bugs seem to be deminished as well. With indexing there should
be all kinds of neat things on the horizon.
89Mar23 5:04 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Sergant Talloff is not an NPC anymore. There are a few more NPC's that are
available for those joining and would like a character already tooled up.
89Mar23 8:29 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I've had successful test with the map from everything to IBM Compatables to
Commodores, yet an Amiga claimed a confused screen. What I have done is put a
question just inside the number 9 option, to ask if you have an IBM
Compatable. If you answer no then you are explained the neighboring hexes
number system in text, whereas the Yes reply will be more a visual one.
Nothing major will happen if the wrong choice is made so experiment and then
use the one of preference.
The King has set out to curb the rampant inflation found in the Market, by
slashing the prices of all goods by approximately 90%. The Merchants still
love a good barter so no price is fixed. A finer tuning of the economy is
under way by The Royal Chancellor.

89Mar24 11:49 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Freeze-up has been occuring with the program. I just put in some memory
available checks and found the culprit area to be the interaction (Battle)
chain file. Until I track down it's exact location and change it, which
shouldn't take too long, it would be adviseable to exit the game after each
battle, then return, so as to clear memory.
89Mar24 1:51 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The memory problem has bee fixed. There may still be a problem with many calls
to the door on the same session, yet that will be fixed as well. It may work
to curb abuse for the moment. Not that I particularily care, yet other users
are no doubt waiting to get on.
89Mar24 4:19 pm from Glen Fitzgerald @The Mall [NS,CA]

Well not all are looking for blood and ripe for revolution. One brave
adventurer has in his exploration stumbled apon the Troll King's Castle. By
swearing Loyalty the Trolls have invited him in, given him work and as
politely as they find possible, shown him every hospitality.
On another note, Estonia was seen in the far south west region of the Kingdom.
The reports say that he was under some magical spell or mad from exposer, for
he was seen stabbing himself repeatedly. Once calmed he said that he was
fighting an aberition of himself. We are thankful to the gods that the
aberition lost the contest.
89Mar24 6:22 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
There may be some strange behavior when a character has been killed. This
could be caused by some changes that I am at present installing. If any are
noted please report them to this room.
89Mar25 2:20 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The King sent Capt. Max D. Troll forth apon the Kingdom to solve the mysery of
freezing, of his citizens, while in the act of movement. To find if it be
strange wizardry or natural phenomina. He went through 10 sucsesive marches
with nothing unordinary to be found apon the Realm. He visited Martin The
Vile at 819 and was pleased to report that all were loyal to his King in that
new Fiefdom. The he ventured to the west, through barren lands, till at last
coming apon Lomiar Thistledale, who had not heard of the changing of the
throne. They shared a toast to old King Freddie and he ventured on in a
homeward course to the capital. On route he found a renagade on his tenth
march out. Loyal to No One and Nothing, Max drew his double handed sword and
gave challenge to this one called Ender. A fast and fiercely fight ensued.
Hits of 10 damage being ruff the norm and not a missed swing between the two.
Yet at last Ender fell, leaving Max half his strength before the match. He
staggered on the last 30 miles to the Capital. It was only when he entered
through it's gates that the magic became known. An ironic twist to his many
miles of searching, to find the answer in the spot from wence he came.
K-PC hailed him from the gates of the Capital, yet once inside a mist decended
and the walls were out of sight and lost to touch. The Market place could not
be found, then looking to the ground, he dropped his double handed sword in
shock, finding a footing never seen before, nor ever heard recounted. A
terrain that was in no book or charts. Then voices in the mist rose up. So
many that Max thought the population had grown in the thousands since his
departure. The shock was too great for this wounded warrior and he fell
unconscious, his last thought were that demons were amuck. Come to appease the
blood that had soiled the Kingdom, during the senseless rebellion.
89Mar25 2:26 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I shall make sure the map matches the character's locations tommorrow. Until
the cause is found, it would be wise to sheath your swords.
89Mar25 4:49 am from Mark Metson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Dan, I went to move south-east and was told that would take me off the board
(I wont say in public where I am...) I thin encountered myself, who had
nothing to say to me (because option to enter a bulletin was ofline for
debugging). My only option other than combat with myself was thus to exit the
game...
89Mar25 11:56 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Mourning has set apon the Capital. Captain Max D. Troll has expired. The only
compensation for such a loss is the valiant curcumstances of his death. It
seems that Gladstone was a dear friend of Enden, who Max had killed while on
his tarvels from the Capital. He found his way to the Capital and found Max
still in a weakened condition. He raised a challenge and a battle ensued. Max
fought back bravely and drove Gladstone back. It seems the Demons had not left
the Capital, and the next Gladstone knew he was teleported by some magic many
hundred miles away, to hex 13, an ominious number. He had companions in this
task and one took up the fight. It raged until Gladstones friend lay died apon
the cobblestones. Max was weakened beyond belief, yet still stood proud as a
third companion of Gladstone , Belgarian, charged. They exchanged blow for
blow, Max giving both and recieving punishment, till at last sweet lady death
gave Max her kiss.
Bolstered by thier victory, the fight raged on past the crumpled corpses of
Max and Gladstone's companion. K-PC came next under Belgarian's blade, yet
before an outcome, the Demons layed on thier freezing magic.

Ian -
You wish!
89Mar25 8:44 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Well it seems that Fire Elf's attack has awakened the slumbering Abernathy.
Consequentally the threat to the Kingdom looks very grave as far as King
Fredrick II is conserned. He therefore has the following commands he wishes me
to pass on:
Martin The Vile :
Summon all of your men and begin a search for Abernathy. He was last seen to
the west of the Capital (Fire Elf's sighting) and is expected to not be more
than five hexes or so from that last position, at present time. He is a very
formadable character, so do not expect to defeat him in any one battle.
Instead try to wear him down, sending your men back to the hex just east of
the Capital, so that the King can give them funds enough to be healed and then
sent back to the Battle area. They would be best set up if you pass THROUGH
the Capital to the next hex to the East for Credit Transfers by the King.
All Other Characters:
If you chearish your King report to the Capital for defence service. You will
be payed 100GPs when Arbernathy's head is brought to the King.
Long Live King Fredrick II!!!!
Sergant Talloff:
Please contact Martin The Vile (Robbie Parker) to aid in bringing in the head
of Abernathy.
89Mar25 9:36 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The Mighty Abernathy has been tracked. Sergant Bagabee was sent from Bardia to
pick up his trail and came across him on hex 918. The Sergant gave him Battle,
and inflicted heavy blows with his Battle Ax, yet alas was himself beaten down
to 3 hitpoints by the mighty Abernathy, and had to return to the Capital for
healing. Any other volenteers will be given 20 GP over thier amount needed for
healing.
89Mar25 10:49 pm from Kevin Hughes @The Mall [NS,CA]
Estonia the warrior who valiantly came near to killing himself, has gotten to
the capitol city! He then received payment from the King, and went off the
fight the Evil Abernathy(sp). Although he fought to his best ability, the Evil
One defeated him, and Estonia was forced to flee. But he does not intend to
take this lying down! He intends to try again!
89Mar25 11:01 pm from Kevin Hughes @The Mall [NS,CA]
(all players in the capitol)
Guys, Why don't we all surround Abernathy's hex, and take turns attacking
him? He's located at 918 now.
89Mar26 12:44 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Tracker, the mighty warrior who brought to the King Tobor's head, has stumbled
into the Capital, after an encounter with the Mighty Albernathy. He has
reposed to the fitness unit for recovery. He has sworn to return to engage
this mighty warrior again for the King, and of course the bounty...
89Mar26 2:53 am from Donald Hartlen @The Mall [NS,CA]
Abernathy is no longer in 918 and is probably on the run somewhere.
89Mar25 8:21 pm from Donald Hartlen @The Mall [NS,CA]
The mighty Abernathy has just has his but kicked about by Swiftwind The
Great in the name of the king and Swiftwind would also like to notify the
general public that if you die , etc. do not use the same name because it will
cause MAJOR problems.
Long Live The King!
89Mar26 12:01 am from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
I am affraid to be the bringer of this bad news but the Gallant Tracker
died in a futal attepmt to kill Abernathy and save the King. He fought to
the last and then it came quickly. He blew several killer blows but they were
not enough. Abernathy heaved his sword with great strengh and gave the final
blow. Now as Tracker Jr. sits at the castle wondering what happened to his
father he now knows. I say that we avenge the Death of Tracker after all he
Killed Tobor and was friend to many of us. I am sending a messenger to the
capital asking if anyone wants to join the crusade against Abernathy.
Estonia do you want to fight him, Sergant Talloff will you join? Help us get
rid of this menace for good.
89Mar27 12:33 am from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
I have arrived at the capital and I'm now recruiting people. On the way over
i decided to see this Abernathy first hand and went into battle with him.
After the damage I did he shouldn't have much left onto him after what I and
the late but great Tracker inflicked on him. Keep at him men.

89Mar27 12:50 am from Dan Johnson @STonefiST 462-8515
Desperate's not the word Ian. Three have fallen to Abernathy and four more
crawled back to the capital with thier tail between thier legs. This could be
the revolution I've been waiting for, so I can get back to some programming.

I've taken the game offline to get a chance to work on it.
89Mar27 11:40 am from Glen Fitzgerald @The Mall [NS,CA]
AHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!Listen up....I Belgarion have just fought some of the
hardest battles of my life.....I have made my way past K-PC in a battle that
ent down to the last few blows......I then encountered Dan Son of John who was
still glowing from his defeat of Tobor Jr....he isn't glowing
anymore......then finally Elmir Troll got in my way..he too died as he tried
to fight me with a little dagger...AHAHAHAH!!!!!Maybe a million daggers could
hurt me but not just one,Now I am about to KILL your beloved KING FREDRICK II
and the Castle will soon be mine.....one person has the right to share it with
me and he knows who he is.....you may leave me mail and beg me for mercy if
you wish to live but if not I would advise you to stay away from the Capital
for awhile....
89Mar27 11:58 am from Glen Fitzgerald @The Mall [NS,CA]
AHAHAHAHAHAH!!!I have done as I have promised.....King Fredrick II is now
resting with his dear old dad...AHAHAHAH!!!!!Now all of you peasants be
prepared o become loyal to me or die!
89Mar27 12:24 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Well the line of Fredricks is no more. King Fredrick II having no sons. The
capital is in disarray, the throne in the balance....
I thought this an opportune time to take the game offline to install a log
that will allow only one session per player/character per day. This will tend
to smooth out the game for the players as well as keeping The Mall open for
other business. I am pleased with the interest shown in Thy Kingdom Come and
would like to thanks all the test players for hanging in there through bugs
and bad code. Thier playing has speeded the process of tracking such things to
the ten fold.I will post when it is online again, which I hope to be only a
day or so.
89Mar27 1:47 pm from Kevin Hughes @The Mall [NS,CA]
Seargent, I welcome your assistance in the destruction of Abernathy. But I see
we now have another adversary! Indeed, the world is filled with those who
would work against us! But, thus is the will of the gods.
89Mar27 2:03 pm from Kevin Hughes @The Mall [NS,CA]
As of this moment, I, Estonia, claim with my right, the Throne of the Late
King Fredrick II! All are to bow down to me, and acknowledge myself as the
King of this land! All who oppose me, meet me at the hex 500, and we shall
ensue in combat!
89Mar27 2:27 pm from Kevin Hughes @The Mall [NS,CA]
I have relocated abernathy! he is at 921, and is encounted by going se from
the Capitol! As I have claimed the throne, I hereby order all those who were
loyal to the late King to attack and destroy Abernathy!
89Mar26 9:32 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
OK Thy Kingdom Come is back better than ever in the sense that there is now a
game time record kept. For the moment this is updated manually, and if that is
done, what it means is one session per day per player. This should really
smooth out the game which is now getting interesting for me, without the
responsability of worrying about the Kingdom. :-)
89Mar26 9:33 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The Capital is truely in dispair. Estonia valiantly stood toe to toe with
Abernathy, who has appeared at the City Walls. As valiant as his fight, he had
to retire and was last seen traveling in a South Easterly direction of the
Capital.
89Mar26 9:44 am from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
Estonia I will allie with you but work under my own rule. I and my men are
bounty hunters but work for a price as you well know. Do you agree with these
terms?
89Mar26 9:47 am from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
The death of the late King has come to us as a shock but this will
not disaper in the wind. Unfortuneatly we have a bigger problem
named Abernathy. I say that we try to talk to him, all we have done so far
is attack him. Maybe we can reach an agreement with him. Sound good. We are
running out of ideas.
89Mar26 10:35 am from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Fire Elf watches in amusement as the humans continue their squabble. Such
petty things as Thrones make them obsessed with killing.
Albernathy is a foe indeed. Although Fire Elf has risin from his ashes, he is
not amused by the mortal's deeds. Perhaps there are ways to kill this Mighty
Giant, or wait untill others do it for me.
89Mar26 11:33 am from Donald Hartlen @The Mall [NS,CA]
To anyone who is in charge: Swiftwind The Great has just done battle with
the evil Abernathy and is in need of asistance, Is there still an offer to pay
for the healing of those who are wounded in battle?
89Mar26 11:55 am from Kevin Hughes @The Mall [NS,CA]
I will agree to your terms. I can pay you 50 gp now, and then a share of
abernathy's gold when he is dead. As to our other menace, I cannot make a
bargain as of yet.
89Mar26 12:01 pm from Kevin Hughes @The Mall [NS,CA]
I ask all those still loyal the The Late King, come to the Capitol, making a
scan of hexs 815,816,817,818,819,866,867,868,869,870,920,922,923, and
*SPECIAL* note of 921, as I have spotteed and fought Abernathy there.
89Mar27 6:19 pm from Glen Fitzgerald @The Mall [NS,CA]
I will pay anyone who kills Estonia and gives me proof 500 gps......Anyone

select others and I don7t pan on losing it that quickly.
89Mar27 9:03 pm from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
We are bounrty hunters and are loyal to whoever pays us, the right amount of
coarse but we aren't stupid. Abernathy is a incredable warrior and will not
be attacked by me or my men. Now to other matters, Estonia my men take what
they find and only share it with good allies or friends.
Abernathy: You are a great warrior and will not get any quarls from my men or
I and I hope to be allies.
89Mar27 9:17 pm from Ian Smith @The Mall [NS,CA]

89Mar28 11:44 am from Dan Johnson
Striving to bring fairness to the game, I have modified the Log System. Now it
will not be nessasary to call in EVERY day to get you fair number of moves.
You will be able to enter the amount of days that time has moved ahead from
your last session. Say for example you have not logged in for 7 days, then you
would have seven visits to the door. I shall try to add, later, the feature
that if you have had an interaction then you are brought up to the time of the
character who interacted with you. This may still mean that you have sessions
left to play out.
If anyone sees any difficulty with this let me know in messages, for the time
sinc is an interesting problem and I don't claim to have it all worked out.
89Mar28 3:40 pm from Kevin Hughes
Just to show I am not kidding around, I have slain one of your numbers! The

I, Estonia, hereby declare my resignation from the throne, and hereby turn it
over to The Mighty Belgarion or Abernathy, and leave it to them to gain, one
way or another. I am favoring Belgarion at present, and will warn him I have
spetted Abernathy headed back toward the Citadel.
89Mar28 2:29 pm from Robert Levy
Getting a bit scared, kev?
89Mar28 3:16 pm from Dan Johnson
Well the first means of honest livelyhood has entered the Kingdom. The Fitness
Unit is now a business, that the profit goes to the character who is the
common loyalty of that hex. If the character is dead, the GPs go out of the
game. With the Meanial Work that is installed this should start to build the
economy. I am also going to make it that the same character will geta CUT
(much like a tax) on what goes on in the Weapon and Armour Markets. Maybe the
throne will be more powerful. I know I'd like a cut of all the healing going
on in the Capital!
89Mar28 4:06 pm from Glen Fitzgerald
Well Estonia...You have made a wise decision...but remember loyalty to one of
us is loyalty to all.....If you attack myself,Abernathy, possibly Swiftwind,or
another to be making an appearance soon you shall die but if you stay loyal to
me and prove that loyalty by bringing me the head of rtin the Vile I will
reward you handsomely.
I now declare the 500 gp bounty on Estonia's head NO MORE.....anyone attacking
him while he is loyal to me will die.

89Mar29 2:47 pm from Dan Johnson
Well all is a quite as death in the Capital. Indeed that heady smell hangs
like a heavy cloud about he place. Not a soul remains. The last refugees fled
to the north and west thismorning leaving the Capital, once a beehive of
activity, in deathly solitude. The Armies of Belgarion and Abernathy lay
towards the south and east. What they are waiting fro now, no one can tell.
Perhaps rolling dice for thier perspective areas... perhaps celebration rages
in their camps, with victory on thier doorsteps.
89Mar29 3:40 pm from Donald Hartlen
The forces of Belgarion/Abernathy are now holding the capital and all will
bend to their rule or die!

89Mar30 1:57 pm from Dan Johnson
To All Character Creation Abusers:-)
I'm not sure if *all* of you realised that one could create as many characters
as they wanted to up till now. To all you throne seekers, beware whole armies
lurk in the Kingdom! Well a new option that I installed require that now only
legal account passwords be used to create a character. One of the advantages
of being a test player is that any bugs you find, you are not penalised if you
take advantage of it. (Right Abernathy) So out of the goodness of my heart I
have included ALL passwords from the current character list to the end of the
legal account passwords file. This will mean that everyone that is playing at
present will be able to create one more character, above and beyond the one(s)
that they have. Should spice up the game until the new influx when this room
goes public.
89Mar30 9:14 am from Dan Johnson
Terrain Types, in option 8 of the main menu, are now given in text, rather
than numeric format. Ihope this will make things clearer for the player. I
shall soon add restriction to the movement to make some sense with them. For
example if you go on a water hex, you will need to eventually be in a boat.
Swamp hexes will slow you down and roads will speed up movement.
89Mar30 2:02 pm from Dan Johnson
I've tried to put in the Mode option. This should change things quite a bit.
Characters will now be able to be set to the three modes, Attack, Defensive
Neutral, and Defensive Non-Neutral. Right now Attack and Defensive Non-Neutral
are both considered to be Defensive Non-Nuetral. This will be the next stage
once we test the Defensive Neutral and Defensive Non-Neutral.
Defensive Neutral : This has been the setting that you all have been used to
all along so far. I.E. if a character that encounters your character is
willing to change his loyalty to yours then your character will share the
hex.
Defensive Non-Neutral : This will be handy for Castle owners, for with this
setting your character will not share the hex without a fight. That way
attackers cannot use the Fitness Units of the Castle under attack to be
healed, but will either have to fight it out or return to another castle for
healing and return to the front.
Please report any irregularities that these changes may have caused, to this
room.

castle a hex away, at 917! But beware, he has many supporters, and I fear I
may forfeit my life to bring thee this message! I pray lord, if nothing else,
give me a haven from those still loyal to the Fredricks!
89Mar30 2:29 pm from Dan Johnson
I have the version with the Mode Option back online. It still has a bug IF
your opponent is killed and I am not sure just yet if he is deleted from the
files. Perhaps deaths can be reported to me for checking that out. However you
can retire from an interaction without the crash.
What is interesting is to see the castles closing thier gates, now that this
version is installed. I am not sure if this is because of setting done
previously without thought or the upcoming war that seems to be brewing.
PLease report all or any strange behavior of this new version and I will try
to find out what the problems are, I am keeping it online until debugged
anyway. I thought were the sides seem to be drawing up and preparing for war,
individual killings, for sport, are not as important as getting Mode Option
operational for the big event that is on the way.
89Mar30 2:52 pm from Ian Smith

89Mar30 5:24 pm from Dan Johnson
I hope I cured that bug. Please report any deaths, so that I can check it
against the files to make sure it is working. If it does function fine, then
all is ready for the war at hand. Also reprot of course is it crashes you out
with Error FF, if/when you kill the opponent.
89Mar31 10:50 pm from Dan Johnson
The Troll King, on his way to a pilgramage to Fire Elf's island sactuary,
stopped in the coastal town of Matrun. It was there for the first time that he
heard news of King Fredrick II's demise. Enraged beyond all reason he
destroyed the drinking hole that he was in at the time, with all the patrons
luckily escaping with thier lives. Huffing and puffing he was last seen
heading along the coastal road in a westerly direction, towards the Capital.
89Apr01 12:03 am from Dan Johnson
OK I've had to take the Mode Version Copy offline for a few more mods. I've
placed the older copy without modes on for now. Here is how it works.
If you start an interaction it is a fight till death or the battle is not
recorded. A fight to the death will be, yet you will be bounced out to the BBS
after the fight is through. Also if you chicken out during the fight you will
be bounced out, yet those changes will be saved.
89Apr01 1:28 am from Chris Forgeron
Dan, I find it very %#$^ hard to locate a person on a hex. And when you are
travling around, if someone is anywheres within that hex, you can't get
through... argh!. You should have it so when you are passing through a hex, it
notifies you that you are in a populated hex, and gives you the option to
search the hex for life.
Also, it should announce when you are in a town hex..
89Apr01 7:12 am from Dan Johnson
Chris F:
At this stage it was meant to be a little difficult to find someone, as the
hex is supposed to be 15 square miles, yet there are only six sides on the
hex, so it should only take at most two sessions. I plan to have maps (the
same number of hexes as this present one) for each section of the hex. The
hexes on those maps (really the same one as far as the program storage goes)
will not be sharable, yet uniques to each character, so that your frustration
will be less.
I like the idea of notification of the town/castle.
I take it you were using the version with Modes, which stopped you from moving
through the hex. That is only if the character has his mode set other than 2
at present. What may be better is that each character is assumed to have a
bunch of followers, perhaps equal to his hit points (in fact the hit points),
so that one could get an impression of a small army on each hex. The armies
could then intermingle if the same loyalty. At this dimention that is the
idea, and once the smaller maps are in place you will have to go to that
dimention for character to character interactions.

89Mar30 8:42 pm from Darren Boucher
Why don't you make a command for when you have several days saved up. Instead
of having to return to teh Board you could press that command to go to the
next day. Sort of rush sun up.
89Mar30 9:11 pm from Darren Boucher
If you are in a hex with multiple characters you should somehow have a way
to search them out for encounters. Perhaps a command to list the people in the
hex and to choose who you wish to encounter.
The game now runs on days which consist of 5 moves. That is great. I have
one idea that could make it more effecient for some people. If you enter the
game on a day and DON't use all 5 moves the unused ones should be saved up, as
to your character, that day is not over yet. So if you log in just to check on
something you don't waste a whole day. I entered the game 3 days to check to
see if somebody sent my character some gold as they were supposed to, I never
made any moves but I lost 3 days. Its like I've been cheated out of 3 days of
my young life, now I have an oportune moment and I can't take advantage of it,
instead I return to loadin cabbages in the menial labour. The life of a
warriors isn't always paved with gold, mine is paved with copper.
89Mar30 9:50 pm from Dan Johnson
Action was seen outside the Capital Walls thismorning, and very strange action
it appeared to be. Sergent Bagbee, tracking Estonia from the Castle of Bardia,
found himself in enemy territory. It appears that Abernathy had done the job
of slaying Estonia for him and he was breaking camp to journey back to Bardia
when attacked by one calling himself Barthel. A fairly equal match ensued, yet
the experienced of the veteran Sergent wore Barthel down, until he was forced
to retire back towards the Capital, to visit the Fitness Unit there, one could
only presume. The Sergent began to hurrily pack the rest of his belongings,
having a strange feeling of deja vu, the way Barthel had weilded his Battle
Ax.
He had no sooner stood from fastening the last strap on his back when another
figure appeared. It was some kind of Wizard, he felt. He would be surer before
the encounter was through. The stranger called himself Enduval and said he had
come to pick up where the boy had left off. The Sergent said, "So be it, then
my good sir!" and drew his Battle Ax. The stranger's daggar was no match to
such a weapon, magic or not and the Sergent finally heaved a heavy blow
severing the head from the shoulders. He then turned to get his pack
determined to be rid of this place. Yet when he turned round the stranger was
seen heading towards the Capital walls, head now firmly fixed apon his body.
The Sergent shuddered saying under his breath, "The Demons still abound."
89Mar30 9:58 pm from Ian Smith
Anyone within or in 5 hexs of the Capitol who does not pledge alleigence to
"Belgarion/Abernathy" must flee now or visit Estonia. (that includes _you too_
Swiftwind!!!) The army is quickly growing and you will soon find power beyond
imagination tracking you down. Everybody who currently has loyalty to
Belgarion/Abernathy is summoned to the Capitol, or the feilds surrounding it
to await further instructions.

89Mar30 10:07 pm from Dan Johnson
I think I have the major bugs fixed in the new Mode Version. I am too ashamed
to say what they were... just hope they work. Because this is a new concept to
the players, I would appreciate any feedback about them, for example should
they only apply if the proper section is entered? That way to fortify a castle
leaders would have to deal with such detail as having each section of the hex
covered by a different character. I like the idea of such stratigy, yet it may
not be practical in this medium.
As always feedback and bug reports appreciated.
89Mar30 10:17 pm from Dan Johnson
The Troll King has come apon one called Savage Sarth. He lost him in the
evening's twilight, but called after him, that if morning breaks with his
loyalty to this Triad Rebel pack he will be resting with his ancestors by
morrow's night.
89Mar30 11:30 pm from Donald Hartlen
The loyal Swiftwind has changed his loyalty to Belgarion/Abernathy and is

I think that the Armour Market bug may have been fixed in the same foul bug
squash. It worked for me in testing, so please report how all you rich Barons
are treated when tooling up your boys. Looks like war is not far off!
89Apr01 10:48 pm from Dan Johnson
An interesting (subtle) bug that I have noted on my test version, is that if
you are set to Defensive Neutral, no interactions seem to happen at all,
including changing loyalty! It seems to make sense in it's own funny way. I'll
await reports before hacking at it, as I may have screwed up somehow on my
test, for example perhaps if you find the right section you get an interaction
or something. It will be hard for you to know how the other character is set,
so if you could report all interactions I would check the settings. Thanks.

89Apr02 3:04 pm from Dan Johnson
Civil War makes strange bedfellows and strange bedfellows makes for strange
behavior. An incident just outside the Capital, today, fortified this point.
Folk from the Castle Walls could not believe thier eyes when Belgarion landed
by boat on the north west shore and attacked Swiftwind's camp. The Mighty
Swiftwind, who only the day before had pledged defense of the Capital until
death, has kept his word, falling at last to the Co-Ruler's sword.
89Apr02 3:20 pm from Dan Johnson
The Prince of Bardia has exibited some magical ability. There were attcks on
his Castle of Bardia today, by some of Martin's Scum. Each time the Prince was
knocked down in death, up he arose to the horror of Roger the Ravenger, who at
last ran to the north and in fear sailed north to sea. Sergent Bagabee was
sent off in his pursuit, and has promised to bring the Prince back his head.
No one knows for sure what magic the Prince has, for his name goes back to
time memorial and his blood is of pure linage of the Kingdom's Royal families.
89Apr02 4:57 pm from Dan Johnson
Abernathy the Mighty has taken the Capital in his own name. One can only
assume it is from the strange behavior of his ex-partner Balgarion. There have
been other deaths reported in the once peaceful Capital as well. Enduval the
magician who had accosted Sergent Bagabee and the young one Barthel. These are
indeed troubled times.
89Apr02 6:14 pm from Ian Smith

Be generous... It could kill you.
89Apr03 9:17 am from Dan Johnson
In any town or castle hex you can access the market James. In the market there
is meanial work to be had at 1 gold piece per movement point. Also in the
market area there are fitness units that will heal your character for 1 gold
piece per hit point (health point). When a character is killed any money on
him will go to the victor. This amount will also be added to the experience
points which moves the character's level up. If you own a castle the money
spent in the fitness unit goes to that character, no matter where it is on the
board.

The Troll King has arrived at the Castle Bardia. He made camp outside the
Castle's Walls, seeking solitude as the King was reported not to be there.
Prince Bardia returned shortly thereafter and went to the great Troll King and
advised him on the activities of the North since last reports had made it to
his southern Capital. It was with a heavy heart that he reported to him
Captain Max D. Troll and Elmir Troll's demise.
89Apr04 6:22 am from Dan Johnson
Sir Talloff has been slain. There seems to be activity to the far east of the
Capital. It is not know whether this is simply a rebel pack, or Abernathy's
doings, making movements on the eastern section of the Kingdom.
89Apr04 6:26 am from Dan Johnson
BUG REPORTS:
Jason Foster has reported that if "Another Session" is choosen in the movement
menu, when it appears, and if the player then moves his character back to the
hex that he just came from that he encounters an aberition of himself. It is a
nasty aberition however, for when Jason's character gave battle, the aberition
killed him. I know this happens on the extreme north and southt of the game
board when attempting to move off the board. I'll check into it.

Well Kingdom Door is back on the Local Mode. Please leave reports as to it's

Well the tide has turning. The Troll King and Sergent Bagabee had left Bardia
ugently a couple of days before when the Prince had informed them that he at
last had heard word from the missing King. He had been gone one morning when
they awoke about a week before. They had been sick with worry for that period
and were now racing at full forced march to the castle of Martin The Vile,
where the King had been holding up. They were but a few miles away when
fighting was heard to break out, coming from the direction of Vile's Castle.
Coming within sight they saw the King's banner flying from the butress, and
the cry of battle from the walls below. Still too far to make out exactly what
was going on, they pushed on even faster. Before they had reached the Castle
they saw the Banners being lowered as the battle cries subsided. They could
only assume the same curse of every Fredrick of the line had befallen this
bastard son, so drawing swords on they press, perhaps too late to the
rescue...

Thanks!
89Apr06 5:27 pm from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
Dave, I'll give ya some but only a bit if ya come and join my gang. Right now
we are just leaving the area for awhile until things get better in the
kingdom. Maybe peace might come to the kingdom.
I feel that for now instead of fighting we should try and make peace not war.
ABernathy feels that the only true king was King Fredrick I(correct me if i'm
wrong) and I think we should leave it at that. Maybe even vote on who
should be king. I think that you all think Abernathy just goes around
chopping peoples heads off for the fun of it but I think your wrong. To him
the only thing he can really relate to is brute strenhg but if we give him a
chance we should really see the good in him. No more King Fredricks the 100 or
whatever, just a new king who we can all really vote on. Maybe even Divide
the kingdom having two kings. The point that I'm trying get across try to find
peace not war, who agrees?
89Apr06 5:48 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I've started the installation of the new population keeping technique and I
think it will not take too long. PLease just bear with me and if a garbage hex
is found skirt it for now, for I won't have time to clean the board. Otherwise
I could take it down untill I finish installation. Leave you request to do so,
if that be the case.
Samewise- How's a guy supposed to get in that Castle of yours anyway. I found
the gates barred tighter than a flies ass in fly time.
89Apr06 6:59 pm from Dean Jenkins @The Mall [NS,CA]
Don, I still can't get in your hex. What's up?
89Apr08 1:53 am from Darren Boucher @STonefiST
Abernathy: We can exchange prices on each others head but I don't think that
is the solution. You have no right to the throne, if you insist on keeping it
I'll have to do everything in my power to stop you.
Everyone: I withdraw my request for Martin's head. Give him a chance. I am a
fair man.
If we do vote for king we can't have an unfair scoundrel like Abernathy
sitting on the throne.
Duke Samwise
89Apr07 7:15 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The Troll King and Sergent Bagabee arrived at the Castle of Martin The Vile to
find the King's corpes layed out in the courtyard and drapped with his banner.
They assumed others must have been here with the King and after a proper
cerimony, had layed chase to the attackers. It was too much for the Troll King
to see yet another Fredrick gone, with hardly a chance of another of King's
blood left in the Kingdom. He decided to leave the warring north and to return
to his Mountain Castle and ensure that this northern madness did not spread
there. His said his goodbyes to Sergent Bagabee and asked him to wish the
Prince well and to visit him if ever in the southern mountains. He gave a
quick skirt of the area, to ensure others were not ready to swoop down on the
Sergent, while waiting for reenforcements and finding all clear headed south.
89Apr07 7:30 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
It seems that a new movement and center of power has developed in a Castle on
hex 317, very near Samwise's Dukedom. It is a group of Free Thinkers that have
thier gates open to all with loyalty to Free Thought. They grouped together
and made this new city state after spending many days outside Samwise's gates
asking permission to enter. They stamd banded together in the intention to
come to Samwise's aid should the northern maddness find it's way to this part
of the Kingdom, yet even if the jury is still out on Samwise, they give him
the benifit of the doubt.
89Apr07 9:08 am from Lawrence vanderMeer @The Mall [NS,CA]
I new character, loyal to Duke Samwise, strides toward Castle Stonefist to
join the Duke's many men. In exchange for his loyal survaces, he hopes that
he will be outfitted with proper armor and weapons. With this, your highness,
I will surve you to my death!
White Night
89Apr07 9:19 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Good news on the going public front!
I created a test character file with 160 characters in it. That is the same
size as my user log. They were all loaded into memory no problem, so it
appears that the pointer linked list will suffice for this application and the
speed of searches will remain the same, not having to pull things off the disk
each time. I can then install an event to bring the system down once every so
often and run the Utility to create the password file. This could be the
programs way of making NPCs out of inactive players. Once thier account has
scrolled and thier password for thier character is no longer in the file then
that character would fall subject to whatever we figure on doing with NPCs.
They would make good armies for Castle owners, perhaps dividing them up
amongst them, having the program give the passwords to the lords or something.
Feedback on this option would be appreciated.
89Apr07 11:02 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Had to go to backups that were made eirlier thismorning due to corruption of
files during testing. Therefore some characters may have suffered a time warp
if moved between 9AM and present time today. Hope this works out as a plus and
not a drawback. I am using the real files as I have the large 160 character
test file in my test directory area.
89Apr08 11:46 am from Shaun Dares @The Mall [NS,CA]
King Tobor (?);
Being a new person to this world, may I make my way towards your Castle, in
exchange for Lodgings, I can find some way of serving you.
89Apr06 11:06 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I have installed a version that handles the map population, with the info from
the Character Files. I still haven't stripped out the other code dealing with
the Population Field in the Hex Record until feedback that all is well with
this version. So once that is in and everything seems to be worKing ok, I'll
be able to cut the map memory space down by half, allowing that many more
players.
89Apr08 12:03 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I also made the seed used in the roll on this version the seconds of the
system clock, as I was not truely satisfied with the other seed. Let me know
if Battles seem more random now.
89Apr08 1:01 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
Its Duke Samwise, I don't claim of being a kind either. The King made me a
Duke and I keep the title I was given.
I am truely sorry to those that came to Stonefist and found the gates closed.
I will open them today, I was busy cleaning up for you guys. Welcome to
Castle Stonefist. One castle in the vast realm of Fredricks..
Duke Samwise
89Apr08 3:32 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
The Game is offline for a quick fix. It was freezing half way through the
save, which must be caused by some small change I did in that section of the
code. However it is working fine, even with interactions, with the character
files handling the population and interaction flags.
89Apr08 3:46 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Dan, does everyone get a magical boat when they hit water?
BTW, love the new movemt menu... now just put the Terrain type in the map, and
increase the map size by another row of hezes.. Also, make the formatter print
out like this..
XXX
8 XXX XXX
XXX XXX XXX
XXX XXX
XXX
I belive that's the type of hex you use Top, two slanted sides, middle, two
lower slanted sides, and a bottom.
89Apr08 4:37 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Dan, how about listing all players for possible loyalties. Also, hex
manourving would be great (inter-hex that is)
89Apr08 from Michael J. Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
Alas, while looking through his crystal Ball the mage Enduval watchs while
some villian kills his instriment in this world "Balthar" but this rougue was
repayed for his evil act as Dan had not corrected his purse problem and the
man inherited a deficit of 183 gold:-)
Seeing the great evil to the north is beyond his powers through instruments
he has decided to come in person and seek Samwise to aid him in restoring
justice to the northern kingdom!!!

89Apr08 6:07 pm from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
I'm affraid it looks pretty grim for peace Enduval. It will take some time
and probably mediators to help the problem, law makers and people to right
down the new laws. It will take some time. Good Luck to you, you shall need it
I'm affraid.

Attention Kingdom Comers at The Mall.
If you would like access to this room at STonefiST as well just type
".gkingdom". That is if you are like me and have trouble getting on to The
Mall wand would like the updates at STonefiST.
89Apr08 8:04 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Version 1.2 installed and seems to be working ok. It has elliminated the
population field in the hex record, thus freeing up half the memory space and
ridding forever those garbage hexes (or duo appearences).
Chris F:
Everyone does get a magical boat for now. There are fields already being
carried for wagons, horses and boats, which will be installed in future
versions. At that point terrain will effect movement costs. Thus a castle on
the water will be a handy place to launch attacks or a castle in the mountains
will make for less surprise attacks etc..
I like the idea of the format screen print of the hex map. With a true IBM
compatable it does it if IBM is answered true. MORTAL.COM in the downloads
room will no doubt help the more dubious IBM Compatables. This is also
recommended for downloading, because I will be installing windows next that
will leave all nessasary menus on the screen instead of hopping back and
forth.
89Apr08 8:44 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
NEW FEATURE:
In Chris F's honor the Hex Menu, found under option 0 of the Main Menu, now
has an option to see what characters are sharing the hex with you. Option 8 is
now the option to exit this menu.
89Apr08 9:54 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
I feel honored. :)
89Apr08 10:15 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Was just puttering throught the kingdom, and encountered a foe. Somehow, Fire
Elf smoted hima 23HP blow. Dan, did you up HP damage for level? or was that
just a freak bug.
BTW, there is a small castle at 917 called Haven. If you are battle-weary, or
just in need of a good mug of Ale, come in, and stay a while. No aligence is
necessary, just Pledge to Fire Elf while you are staying and there should be
no problems. The castle does request guards to protect it's flanks from
attackers wanting to do harm. They will be payed 100 GP a month, plus free
healing within the city.
89Apr08 10:16 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
BTW, Jason, I ventured to your Castle at 917, and found it empty. Hope you
don't mind me setting up camp there. Fire Elf wante to take a swing at running
a castle for a while.
89Apr08 10:22 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
Well it could be worse, at least Fire Elf is on our side!
Duke Samwise.
89Apr09 8:12 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I didn't up the hit point level, but I started using the seconds on the system
clock as a seed for the Roll. I had always been suspect of the other seed, now
I definitely am. Is a 23 Hit Point blow out of context? If not now the Battles
are working perhaps as they should.
P.S. Who's Fire Elf picking on this time? :-) Fire Elf is quite high level
compared to most other characters.
89Apr09 8:14 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Chris F:
Was that a Fruedian Slip, "take a swing at a Castle" ? :-)
89Apr09 8:44 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I just checked the code re the hit roll, and I seem to have put the seconds
from the system clock in the RANDOM call, this would have rolled a dice with
as many sides as the seconds on the clock! Opps...
89Apr08 10:44 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
While trying to clean up the character files, it looks like I added a
character to a numberic field or vice-a-virca. Rather than go to backups from
a couple of days ago I am going to try to find the culprit field. Shouldn't
take too long...
89Apr09 10:33 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Found the culprit (an NPC) so the game is back online.
89Apr09 11:04 am from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Heh, might of been a Fruedian Slip... :-) Now I just have to worry about
checking on my charcter without wasting a day's travel.
Actually, a 26 HP blow is almost accurate. I have a 2 handed sword, and am of
high level (You don't have strength modifyers, so i guess that's all there is
to modify) something around a 17 HP blow would be about right for F/E

89Feb03 4:50 pm from Dan Johnson to Chris Forgeron Thanks for healing
info.
Mail>
WITH THAT IN MIND:
The fitness center is now a Cleric's Holy Temple. It costs one Gold Piece a
day to stay there and the healing will happen at one Hit Point a day. This
should make things a bit more realistic, in that a character can't have a
field day, and then because it has money be right up to par for the next
caller. This will spread the healing out long enough that even a irregualar
player caller will have a chance to see things as they somewhat were on a
particular day. I am open to changing the ratio of healing to days, so let's
hear some feedback.
ON ANOTHER NOTE:
Stay out of weapons and armour until I re-enter files or program will crash on
you.
89Apr09 from Michael J. Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
Dan: A cleric can heal a person completely in a few minutes but it costs
more, a person can heal on his own without intervention if he simply
rests....At least that is the way it works in D&D and that is what I believe
this game to be based on....The concept of healing 1 point a day is excuse me
(crazy)...but heh, it's your world....I just won't get hit!:-)
89Apr09 3:00 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Exactly. The way you had it before was fine. You can call it a holy temple if
you want, or just a place where you are magicly healed. Also, HP should
increase by 1 each day (to the max)
BTW, how much XP do you need to advance a level? And where is it displayed?
89Apr09 4:09 pm from Shane Leahy @The Mall [NS,CA]
Or what you could do is when you go to the temple there could be a menu asking
if you want a Cure Light Wounds, Cure Serious Wounds, or Cure Critial Wounds.
Each cure is more expensive then the last one but it heals more. I based the
names on the D&D game but you can change them.
89Apr09 4:25 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
It seems to be file corruption with the Weapons and has been fixed and tested.
I will do the same with the Armour as soon as I track down the Hardcopy.
89Apr09 4:44 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I stand bowed to the masters of D&D and although I left it a Cleric Temple,
you can now invest like before in your healing. Some of the other ideas will
be attempted when I can get back to it.
89Apr09 7:11 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
If I should die, now that everyone is after me, I would like you to know that
our quest for peace will not end. I would like Lomiar Thistledale, my best
friend, to continue my work. The line of Fredrick will be reestablished!

89Apr09 7:56 pm from James Hilchie @The Mall [NS,CA]
When a person gets extra HP's at the temple ie. 40 -> 45 or somthing is that
permanent or what?
So what is happening now, Duke Samwise is in the South being backed
by the free thinkers, Troll King is in hidding, large groups of others are
doing the same, Fire Elf is in the north running a refuge, Abernathy is the
King in the Capital, and The north is said to be mad with anarch ruling....
Have I missed anything?
89Apr09 8:00 pm from Robbie Parker @The Mall [NS,CA]
No I think you've got it down pat. [-)
89Apr09 9:56 pm from Jeff Ohlhausen @The Mall [NS,CA]
Essteven the Mighty has sworn alliegance to Fire Elf...
89Apr09 10:02 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
To Essteven: Fire Elf isn't looking for alliegance to him. he is with us,
those that are looking to set a descendent of the Great Kin Fredrick upon the
throne again.
I have decided upon this,
To Abernathy: I am prepared to offer you a full pardon and your own castle,
and of course your life. if you will surrender the castle to Prince Bardia who
will become our new king. Your castle and realm will be an independant state.
Otherwise you will be forced to face all us liberators.
Duke Samwise
89Apr09 10:34 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
I'd like to welcome Zentrael to Stonefist. Please send me mail with your
identity.
in the South many people see a large patch of smoke in the sky. It is the
castle of Free Thought. It was torched, the pyromaniac went to Castle
Stonefist after ridding the south of a possible threat in the future. Castle
Stonefist sits as the sole power of the south, quite free from most violence.
Welcome to a paradise.
Duke Samwise
89Apr09 10:44 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Fire Elf is not looking for followers, but Guards are necessary, to keep
those who would wish to disrupt the refuge. As I said before Guards are paied
100 GP a month, to keep the hexes around the castle free of anyone not loyal
to NETURAl or to Fire Elf. All guards have to pledge to Fire Elf, to keep
things simple. Guards will not tough anyone entering the castle from the
East.
Fire Elf requests an audiance with the Troll King, an old friend from the Long
Forgotten time of the Fredricks.
89Apr09 11:00 pm from Chris Forgeron @The Mall [NS,CA]
Essteven:
I have found you asking entry into the gates of Haven. You were allowd in. You
are given 200 GP for a special task: Hold the Castle under Fire Elf's name,
and battle all those who wish to usurp it from it's rightfull owner. Once Fire
Elf returns, he will reward you greatly.
(In English, Change your loyalty to Fire Elf (note the case) and stay put on
my castle. I'll reward you even more when I get back. I gave you 200 GP.
Change your banner to read : Welcome to Haven! This Castle is owned by Fire
Elf, and he invites you in to stay a while, and sip a goblet of fine wine, or
chug a mug of hardy wine. Set your loyalty to Fire Elf, and none will bother
you. (Phew!))
89Apr09 11:45 pm from JASON FOSTER @The Mall [NS,CA]
Anyone attacking Duke Samwise castle will perish. If you are loyal to the
Fredricks and wish refuge seek it at the Dukes castle or at "sir monserat"
castle. Those not pledging alligance to the fredricks memories will perish.
Albernathy, Prince Bardia is to much for you or your men to handle and his
followers are numerous.
89Apr10 12:44 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I am inclined to go for a system of hit points proposed by Chris F.. In this
system a character would start with 50 and then every level have another 10
added. So for example, at level 3 the character would have 70 hit point
potential. This way is atractive to me in the code sense, for I would not have
to carry another field suggesting the maximum amount the character should be
healed. The ratio like always is open for discussion. This won't be
implemented for awhile at any rate so lot's of time to hash it out. (No pun
intended)
89Apr09 6:49 pm from David E. Rothbauer @STonefiST
So, do you 'set up' a castle by finding one?
89Apr09 8:23 pm from Darren Boucher @STonefiST
You can buy a Castle, or you can be given one by somebody.
89Apr09 9:07 pm from Shane Leahy @STonefiST
Or do the old fashion way and take it by force.
89Apr10 6:27 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
Exchange of Weapons is now possible in the Encounter Menu. This should help a
bit, until the Markets are open again. All thoses tooled up players can sell
or give thier weapons to comrades. This brings us into version 1.3.
89Apr10 8:21 am from Jeff Ohlhausen @The Mall [NS,CA]
Essteven the Mighty is now at Haven and will destroy anyone who does not

89Apr10 12:06 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I was playing with the Code thismorning, and it doesn't seem to be that much
of a thing to install Gossip Bases in each Town/Castle hex that players could
enter Bullitens, just like thier character's. It will be option 2 in the same
menu. If I install this would you all like to test it for awhile haveing no
play messages in this room, but only Announcements and Bug Reports. I could
give a general sketch of what was happening in the different towns if I see
them getting out of touch. I would like to see how the game would then be
precieved. I feel that the stage of the power bases in the game would make the
play more interesting with a better power of surprise. Feed back would be
appreciated on this one...
89Apr10 1:25 pm from Darren Boucher @The Mall [NS,CA]
It would give towns and castle's more meaning. Make it so each message is
saved with whoever told the story automatically.
89Apr10 12:49 pm from Darren Boucher @STonefiST
Thanks for your support my friends. It does seem that a little bit of order
and compassion will be returned to the sieged realm. Finally we have a large
army to help us reestablish the line of Fredricks.
I should like to think those that pledge alliegnance to us are loyal, we
don't ask much, all we ask id pay no attention to Abernathy and support us in
in any way you can. In the past while people were dying all around the castle
for no reason at all. One man called Barthel told Abernathy he would be loyal
to him and later that night Abernathy killed him. I don't call this a fair
king, besides he is self appointed. He is NOT a true heir to the throne.
Zentrael: I will do what I can to help you.

89Apr10 4:13 pm from Ian Smith @The Mall [NS,CA]
Hmmm.. it appears Duke Samdumb has gotten his wires crossed. Abernathy has
fought but once in months: to crush a pitifull rebellion set against him. He,
however has been attacked countless times by assassins (likely sent by the
so-called Duke of the so-called Prince), but has never killed loyal subjects.
Anyway, the mighty Abernathy has grown weary of insult throwing between his
jealous enemies, and wishes to return to the adventuring life. The Kingship
and Castle are currently up for sale for the highest bidder.

Troll King has arrived back at his mountain Kingdom. He has awarded the keeper
of the gate not only 50 GPs, but his very own Bil-Guisarme. An honor for any
warrior. He has issued a proclamation in his character bulliten, that can be
easily read by exiting the castle towards the east and then returning towards
the west, as Troll King is in the West Section of the Castle map.
89Apr10 5:45 pm from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]

You may then noticed that the day jumped two ahead.

MAPS!!!!!
I had an interesting suggestion with regards to the maps. Would it be a
general consensus to have the check the character's loyalty and have two
versions, one for the Northern Loyalties with the towns and castles etc marked
in with the South blank and vis-a versa. I was thinking of blanked and only
numbered hexes, as I thought some would gain enjoyment of exploring the map
themselves.

I've put in the weapon's market. Please report any problems. I only tried to

Aberbathy before you go spreading lies like you usually do. I have never sent
anybody out to kill you. I said I am a fair man, and remember it was I who
offered to give you a pardon. I don't wish war, I wish the true line be
reestablished. I myself am not worthy, but I think Prince Bardia would make a
fine king. I will be loyal to him, or sir Monserat.
89Apr10 4:42 pm from Shane Leahy @STonefiST
Dan, with the HP. It might be good if you made it more random. That way not
everyone is basically the same.
89Apr11 7:25 am from Dan Johnson @The Mall [NS,CA]
I like that idea in terms of the game, Shane. Yet in terms of code it would
mean carrying an extra field which I am trying to avoid like the plague. With
the constant system only experience points need be carried. I am already
calculating the level any time it is needed from them, and then with another
calculation of the results of the level function I will be able to arrive at
maximum Hit Points allowable.
