The one who calls himself Duke Warlord, there are a few things you must
know. I am not an imposter, but am (at least was) the true son of Warlord. It
was under my order that the gates around you were locked, this is so you do
not escape before the Warlord family regains control of the character. (my
father Warlord was saving game days, and well it appears the utility has
placed him as a henchmen for hire). BTW, those around you in the gates are not
bandits, but the Island guards.
And a note to all... if you wish to speak to the true Warlord leave mail to
Warlord, and not Duke Warlord, or it will not be received by the one who
should receive it.

Goon's dukedom would be null and void at any rate... with Goon dead, this area
is coming into it's rightful ownership, being a piece of Troll Kingdom. Great

Yes, if you remember the other day I was so convinced that the character was
named one way and he wasn't, well the charactr record file did have him listed
as spelt like that so there was no match when killed in a battle I witnessed.

The strength of the kingdom as a whole depends on whether or not the king
can unify the lands he reigns over. I have changed the borders of the old
duchies, and there will be new lords to govern them. Most of the duchies have
been increased in size, which was allowed when the duchie of Northwarden was
removed from the list. I had nothing against this duchie in particular, but
some duchie had to be removed for the changes in this new era.
The largest duchie in the kingdom will be Troll Kingdom, which for now is
controlled by Capt. Max D. Troll. The new Troll Kingdom shall include the
entire southern mountain chain, plus a bit more. The Trolls have control of
the land between 1-420 (on the old map - I'll check out what this is equal to
on the new map later) with the exception of hexes 109-118, 161-170, 213-222,
267-276, 320-330 and 371-381. When converted to the present map, Capt. Max D.
Troll and the other Trolls will control 8000+ hexes.
The position for the Lord of Asgard has been excepted by The Great
Magician. Although The Great Magician has control of Asgard, the Lord Thor
shall have complete control over his castle. The updated Asgard duchie will
have the hexes before 420 which the Trolls do not control (see above). In
addition, Asgard will include 425-456, 478-562, 529-555 and 585-607.

The old Caritas duchie, which has been renamed Bordertown will be controlled
by Kilinin. The recognized borders for the Bordertown duchie will include
995-973, 903-921, 854-871, 802-819, 752-769, 701-719, 653-667, 608-623,
556-571, 503-518, 457-466.
The only other duchie on the mainland is that of Krondor, which as of yet
has NO recognized Duke. The Krondor duchie will include the lands 467-473,
519-525, 572-579, 624-652, 668-700, 720-751, 770-801, 846-853, and 899-902.
Anyone interested in this duchie should leave your new king mail....
I recall that the old capitol was located at 973, but unfortunately the
flood waters have not yet receeded from this area. The new capitol will be at
the King's Keep, 1066 where I will make my residence. However, in my absence I
will need someone to be there. Since the capitol is on an island, I'll let the
Lord of the Islands choose a mayor which he feels will serve the crown well.
Besides the capitol, Warlord shall have control of 1260, 1104-1108,
1189-1192, 1136-1140 and 980 once it emmerges from the depths.
These are now the offical duchies recognized by the crown. The choosen ones
who control the duchies will have a place in the Caritas Council. I'll repost
these lists once I convert them to the present map.

The lands in the Krondor duchie are now under a civil war as a battle for
succession has commenced....The Hell-Hounds have split in thier loyalties,
half flocking to the banner of Tempus Thales, and the other half among thier
respective Stepsons....The loss of Dalisari, thier founder has left the
Stepson in a bit of confusion....The one thing they agree upon is the fact
that Krondor will never be under the yoke of the false king Gamer....I
personally care not for royalty of any kind, I plan to resume my former
occupation of Traveller, mapping the unknown portions of the kingdom....I
acknowledge NO ONE as king but I also do not wish a war....If Gamer wishes the
crown, I wish him well in trying to hold it....I know the players whom he has
taken out and am sure they are at this moment planning something for him:-)
But again that is politics, something Wizards best leave alone.... ]

It seems to me that King Great Gamer I is the king as the late Mandorallen
passed the crown unto him. I say we put an end to this war...Let Krondor form
its own kingdom and let the rest of the world to grow in peace. I am going to
be a peaceful Duke. I will allow anyone within my Duchie as long as they
don't bring thier wars to it. I am going to be forming 3 baronnies in my

but, it never has Mandorallens blessings.

Anyways, there needs to be a capitol while 973 is underwater. I shall send
mariners to the area to check if there are any signs of 973 emmerging to
become once again the capitol of the realm, but till my mariner reports back,
a capitol is needed... that capitol shall be the old 1066 (unless you have a
better location).

As was so elequently stated, by Enduval, The former players of those GG has
betrayed(Mandorallen, Dalisari and the former ruling class....Are among the
most highly skilled on the board....and even now move toward forming a new
power(which is not really that hard....I would advise not getting in thier
way, as the crown of copper means very little to them....
I don't have much time to play(Formerly Dalisari) but I already have 2 13th
level replacements for my lost character, and I plan to take vengance out of
Gamers hide personally, then I will create a new kingdom for myself....

Do you think I'm not aware that the king will have opposition. It was
Caritas which brought the downfall of both Mandorallen and Dalisari... which
were two of the most powerful players in the realm. If Dalisari's forces could
not stop me during the war, what makes you think he can stop me now? My
Knights are always prepared for a possible rebellion against myself...
My Knights are still reporting to me that there are players having
loyalities to those lords which were killed during the civil war. For those
who have not done so, please change loyalities to that of your new king, or to
any of the lords in the kingdom.

I have a map!!! I made a rather large Hex map, and am currently placing the
important sights on it....It is laminated, and I used water soluble markers,
so I can change as the world does....The game takes on a new light when you
know where you are! :-)

I have taken the door temporarily offline to do testing with the Farm
Producing Hexes, which will be incremented by the Utility. Thisshould move
Game Time ahead somewhat as well.

Mikes map is many 50*30 hex (8 1/2 * 11) sheets taped together.
It's size is a bit larger than the one you sold, for the smaller version. On
the thousand hexs, Mike has made a mark to help find the actual hex numbers,
same with diagonal lines on the tens for this as well. The hexs are to small
to actually contain the numbers.
This looks to be the best way to handle the map, since the laminate will allow
the map to be changed, or even erased if you ever decide to quite TKC, leaving
you with a good sized hex map.

map as the old one (only 50 hexes wide and not 53) substituting the numbers

The FARM.CHN file options are functioning now in thier raw form. They work as
follows...
On any Open Country Hex by choosing Option 5 of the Main Menu a prompt to
Plant will appear if the hex is not under cultivation. If answered yes, then a
110sps seeding charge will be taken from the character and that hex flagged to
be under cultivation. Each time the Utility runs 10 Rations Points will be
added to the value of Harvest for that hex.
Once a hex has been planted, then the prompt will be to Harvest when Option 5
is choosen. An affirmative answer will supply the amount of Rations there are
for harvest and a prompt of how many to Harvest. As long as not all the crops
are Harvested the hex will remain stamped as cultivated. Once it is stripped
of all crops re-planting will be nessasary for the Utility to grow Rations in
that hex.
This area will be undergoing more refinements and any input in that regard
are welcome. It may be wise to get to planting and producing Rations so that
there is supplies for characters once the rationing check is installed for
characters during game day advancement.
I personally think that 10 rations per game day may be a bit high for Ration
Growth. Any green thumbs out there with stats? The hex would be about the size
of a football field. Also time required for Harvesting and planting, that will
be added to character's game time?

The Trolls are looking for settlers for the lowland area of our Kingdom, to
farm the region. Pay shall be done on a cost/ration harvested basis. We would
like to deed larger fiefdoms so that the administering of the process could be
spread, we dealing only with the Fuedal Head of the estate.

Checks have been installed in the movement routines when character day is
advanced that one ration is subtracted. If no rations available then 10hps
deducted. I think this will balance out the 10hps healing done by the Utility
each run. More restrictions shall be added once rations are more prevalent.
The Utility is now running each day at 4:15AM. I had an oversight in the
batch file which hasn't had it running lately.

i think the idea of rations is a lame one myself, it does make the game appear
more realistic, but it will soon become a nusance, I assume my men will buy
rations as they go....Most times rations are an insignificant amount of money
any way, so why bother, I think the best way to go is to start repairing some
old bugs, .....If you start with Rations you will soon have to tackle the
encumberance problems because my characters would never be allowed to carry as
much as they do....I have walked around with as much as 3000 pounds in coins!!
Now I will be forced to buy an equal amount of rations do I won't be bothered
with the annoyance of it....
Count me as a big "Give me a Break!" on the rations implant....I would
applaud any more revisions like the movement one, that is the best thing since
tempered steel!:-) s

I find it strange that no complaint was made with the coin encumberence yet
now all of the sudden the rations are upsetting. In D&D game rations are
insignificant due to the fact that it is assumed that there is an abundance of
food. I suspect what one will find, is that ration costs follow the rules of
supply and demand, something which I hope will mimmic the real world, with the
potential of the Farming Class becoming a power in the game for that reason.
There are some players who would like an alternative to simply being a killing
machine. It also has the potential of Lords having an income when Silo Type
Hexes are introduced. I think no warring game is complete without the aspect
of supplies and supply lines.
Your point is taken however and the encumberence aspect should be addressed. I
shall read up on the values and give thoughts of how I may impliment it in
Royal Blood Inn (which I should mention was discussing Rations before the code
was ever started, with nothing but encouragement as input).

To tell the truth, coins shouldn't way all that much, in D&D and AD&D there
were 10 to a pound. That'S a bit much...100 to a pound is more realistic.
Before anyone says that those coins would be too small, I have seen roman

Weapon/Armour Markets are now installed on Market Type Hexes. The Armoury has
been removed from the StoreHouse Hex Types. As Markets are lockable now it was
really reduntant anyway.

The Encumbrence Field has been installed in the Weapon and Armour records. I
made a small goof when re-doing the files and the Long Sword and Two-Handed
Sword's position were swapped. So those with 2 Handed Swords will now show
Long Sword and visa versa...
I also have installed a Global Variable that will carry the Total of the
Character's Encumbrence Weight throughout the program, so that I can now go to
work writting in routines that will add/subtract/check the Encumbrence for
some arbitrary limit that I hope can come out of the Royal Blood Inn
discussion base.
The value of the Encumbrence Weight will also be used to weight the MPs
assigned to the character at load time. Yet these are features yet to be
added, so I'll save that for the Inn...

Thales....After he killed the Stepsons Janni and Critas, all the others have
sworn oathv to Tempus....There are still a few renegades, but the Stepsons are
currently patroling Krondor, to free it of all not Loyal to Krondor....Any
other Loyalty will result in death....

The Encumbrance Field has been installed in the Character Sketch. Right now
this is only tabulated at load time, so if the character should change it's
encumbrance it will not be noted until the next time the door is accessed. A
negative amount indicates that the total is really greater than 32767 (Maximum
Integer Value).

I favor the first of the two proposed options... at a flat rate of 2000 sps
per person. I happen to have 4 soldiers which need to be brought to the
capitol. For now, I'll just have four of my knights brought to the capitol.
Caritas Knight1 is at 5928, Caritas Knight2 is at 5826, Caritas Knight 5 is at
11180 and Caritas Knight 6 is at 8976. I shall personally pay you when they
arrive at the capitol gates. If all goes well, perhaps we can arrange business
in the future for the delivery of other knights to the capitol.
Their loyalities shall be set to yourself and all in mode 2. Please inform
me when each of them are picked up.

My dear Digeree Troll, there is no need to be insulting. I doute you would
find me even if I was in the Troll Mountains.... What are the Troll
Mountains these days. In the past I heard that Troll King claimed every
mountain range in the south, but the Duchie was far smaller, as ordered by the
late King Mandorallen.
Just how are you so busy that you can not go searching for a person who had
nothing to say to you. Are you always a busy body? Or is your silly comment
aimed at making you think you have power. I was wondering do you actually have
any athority.... You don't have to answer if I've asked more questions than
your brain can handle.
If what I hear is true, you trolls are going hungry. You say you own no
low lands (below you dignity?), and that the Trolls are no longer part of
the Kingdom. Hmmm Great Gamer the Usurper, has had two of Mandorallens
Duchies leave his kingdom, as well he lost the southern mountains.
I don't believe all the Southern Ranges are connected, how do trolls travel
back and forth, how do you farm( I know this is a repeat. )?
Let me guess, The Usurper has lost even more of his shrinking Kingdom. I'm
almost shocked that he is not at war with you. The trolls have been nickle and
dime-ing him ever since Mandorallen was murdered.
Great Gamer: If the trolls have taken most of the South, I'd have to add
another slip to your Record. But I musn't jump to conclusions.

Dragon Lord, the Trolls have not taken most of the South, I offered it to
them because I thought the Trolls could handle such a large duchie and they
accepted the increased borders of Troll Kingdom (which includes a lot of open
for farming).
It is true that Northwarden was eliminated, but this was so the other
duchies could have increased borders (including the borders of Krondor). It is
also true that I'm not very popular within Krondor, but every king has some
who object to his rule... (I'm also hoping that the dispute with Krondor is
over, and peace comes to stay in the realm)

actual shapes of the Duchie, You should set the boardes to the Duchies, Like
the file in Gossip Trees.

Version 1.80 makes it's intro with the mod that when water or wall hex types
are encountered then the program will bounce you back to the main menu
automatically, once the prompt has been given. This is to avoid new players
becoming frustrated/annoyed when they are not aware to leave the movement menu
to refresh things. It will also stop the three promts that you have run into a
wall or need a mariner, to appear. Now after the first one it exits the menu.

Encumbrence is now updated after the following activities:
Buying Weapons/Armor
Meanial Work
Exchanging Silver
Exchanging Rations
Exchanging Weapons
It should not be long before Movement will be affected by encumbrence, so it
is advised to get those large sums of silver into Storehouses.

Encumbrence checks have been installed in the Battle Routine when taking
weapons off defeated foes. This has not been tested so any players who use
this area of the code, please report the results. I shall be doing more work
in that area, so that the menu will remain on screen until a choice to exit is
made. That way the corpse could be picked for Armour, Rations as well as
multiple weapons.

While patrolling the eastern reaches of the Troll Kingdom Mountain Range, I
and my patrol came across a great causeway at hex 6534. As this causeway
landed in our beloved mountains we have built a gate and wall at the point

The Battle Routine now gives a menu of 'Picking the Corpse' of valuables which
include Weapons, Armour, Silver and Rations. The menu will keep looping until
Quit is choosen so that the players can strip his opponent of all valuables.
It is the responsibility of the player to take Silver from a defeated foe by
this means, the program no longer automatically transfering credits, but only
adjusts the Experience Points gain.

Version 1.81 makes it's intro with the ability to drop items. This is
primarily to aid characters that may find themselves stuck once Encumbrance is
linked to movement, yet there may be other uses like dropping armour so as to

Storehouse have lost thier Construction Detail (WorkGang) Option. Instead one
will now find that Engineering Study is available in Universities. Such
Characters are Type 3. When Option 8 (Character Skills) on the Main Menu is
choosen then the Construction Detail Option Menu will appear, to that type,
and Hex Types may be bought/built. The hex which is the Engineer's location
will be the one affected by the chnage. This area is generic enough that
different skills may be added to the menu as future character types are added.

OK whether a Log File is present or not the Battle Routines will no longer
crash. It was an oversight on my part which nullified the check up to now.

Of the three, I watch Tempus slaughter, (I was an impartial observer.) all
crashed the door.
It looked to be the same i/o abort as the no log file. Included are Troll
Foot Soldier 3 and 9. Snake Eye Troll. He never close to being seriously hurt
(Tempus).

Encumbrance has been tied in with Movement. The present ratios to wuight and
movement is arbitrary and more than open for adjustments. Please use Royal
Blood Inn for such discussion. The present ratio skeam is:
0..400 Encumbrance = 120 MPs
401..600 Encumbrance = 90MPs
601..800 Encumbrance = 60MPs
801..1600 Encumbrance = 30 MPs
1600..32767 Encumbrance = 1MPs
Right now the new adjustments are only done in the Advancement of Day Routine
in Movement. Therefore if you only move a character for less than one full
day's movements, this will not have a chance to be adjusted.

Version 1.83 has the number of horses and carts a character has listed if
greater than 0. This should appear in the encounter discription as well,
although not tested. Most characters before the last few days will have a cart
and a horse.

We would be pleased to oversee such a match, should both parties agree, then
Inner Keep could be well secured and there is no Temple there for cheating.
The two contestants could set thier loyalties to a particular Troll so that
they could be marched into the Inner Keep with Squad Movement and then the
gates reclosed. The King could enter from the East and Tempus from the West.
We could even allow one to have the Storehouse and the other the Market as a
safety (if you will) to put some stratigy into the match.
It should be noted however that Tempus has been charged in the murder of
Cracker Troll and perhaps the King deems him nothing more than a common
criminal and below the honor of such a contest. The King's opinion in this
matter would be highly appreciated as we Trolls would like this settled so
that life may return to normal at The Keep.

Horses and Carts now play in the Encumbrance to MPs assignment. The only easy
way Icould think of handling them was as follows:
One can only buy a cart if they have a horse to pull it.
When MP assignment is made in the Advancing Day area of movement, then for
each horse 800 Encumbrance Points are subtracted and 6400 Encumbrance Points
for each cart.

There are obvious limitations of horse and cart buying, yet as they may be
given to other characters in the encounter menu I have not installed
restrictions. If the Encumbrance Points are less than 0 after calculating the
Horse and Cart reduction then it is assigned 0. The correct Encumbrance
remains onfile however so that players can calculate the effect of giving away
horses and carts. Any adjustments to the calculations of arriving at any area
of encumbrance are open to discussion. Yet as always please keep such input to
Royal Blood Inn message base.

Universities have been replaced by Guild House. Not much else has changed for
the player, yet the code has been made much more generic and new Guild Types
can be added very easily. I am thinking of adding Thief Character Type and

New Guild House Features:
They are now Lockable
They now have a Treasury Accessable by only 9th Level Thieves and greater.
As thieves are not yet creatable by players the treasury is inactive, yet I
have tested it with a Type 4 Character that I created with the old Text Editor
and it works fine. Once I get pickpocketing and Lockpicking functionable in
the Character Skills Menu for Thieves they shall be made creatable.

OK what the heck you can create Thieves if you want at 15,000sps tuition and
30 days game time. Once they are 9th level or higher at least you'll have a
pretty good Treasury that is secure from all but other 9th level and above
thieves.
There is an interesting little twist when trying to get the the Treasury for
them. You must at least do a Character Sketch once so that the Level of the
Character is calculated, something that took me a number of tries to figure
out in testing. If you log in and race right to the treasury it will not
respond.

Thieves can now attempt to pick gates. To calculate success a 100 sided dice
is thrown and the following breakdown occures:

Thieves can now attempt to pickpocket encountered characters. If they are
Thieve Character Types then an option 0 will appear on th Encounter Menu 'Pick
Pocket'. If this is attempted the probability of success works as follows...
Both the Thief and the Encountered Character's Levels are calculated. At first
the Thieve's Level would give the following percent chance of success:

Then the Encountered Character's Level comes into play subtracting 5% from the

One other thing I forgot to mention. A failed attempt at pickpocketing will
leave a message in the Log File of the Encountered Character stating the fact
and who it was. There is also a check at that point to see if the Encountered
Character is in Mode 3. If so then it is changed to Mode 1 before call to the
battle routines. Otherwise a call is still made and if the Thief chooses not
to battle the Encountered Character then, as we know, that character is then
changed to Mode 3. So if the Thief tries another time Mode 1 is garrenteed to
happen on a unsuccessful attempt. If the character is already in Mode 1 then
the chance to pickpocket would never happen.
I shall be having the Log File scroll automaticall like the Player's Log in
the REG Door so that a player will be forwarned about a change of Mode.

The King, Great Gamer is now in the process of creating an elite guard unit
which will support him and us (the Caritas Knights) in battle and in times in
rebellion. King Great Gamer's elite guards will be known as the Strikeforce,
and will be the pride of the land. Anyone joining will receive armour and a
two-handed sword. In return, the Strikeforce members are asked to give their
support to the king, and assist when requested. All those interested in
serving the crown in the elite guards are asked to leave King Great Gamer, or
myself mail. (Remember two-handed swords and armour are being supplied to
those who join...)

I the Mapper of the World have just finished mapping the Capital. It will
soon be placed upon the map of the globe.
Using the old map sized hex pages, the Capital took close to 3 full pages.
Inside there are no less than 10 markets, a guild hall, more than 7 houses,
an internal waterway, a good number of Temples, a good road(no tracks
here) system, and a couple of vast open spaces.
While I do admite there are some very good sstrategic features, the is a
large amount of insanity. Why would a person put 3 markets side by side...
This was done twice!
I think Great Gamer is a bit ostintatious, and just a little unstable.

walked those cobbled roads and indeed had my blood spill apon them during the
Fredrick wars. It has always been the largest of the Castles of the Realm, and
it's opulesence has been from many years and many monarchs building onto it...
not the outcome of any extravigance of King Great Gamer. It has simply risen
from the flood. I am sure he has had much cleaning and restoration to do, yet
the Old Capital is rich in history and the stone of it's walls brought from
our beloved mountains before this humble soldier had ever walked these lands.
I caution you to keep a civil tongue when speak of and to the King. You
helpful trade being the only thing that keeps me from coming thither myself to
pluck it from your mouth.

Medellian, everything in the capitol has a purpose. Perhaps if you took a
closer look, you'd see its divided into three sections. The central section
contains most of the open, and is its use is pretty obvious. As for the
markets side by side, when I open the left and right sections to the public,
its assumed there may be more than one visitor in a certain section, hence
more than 1 market was built. There's one temple per section in the capital
and double gates guarding the entrances.
As for the ruins of which you speak... I do intend to build upon them in the
near future.
BTW, for any mapmakers, for mapping the capitol the center of the capitol is
21750.

The offer which our king has made concerning his new elite guard unit,
known as the Strikeforce has already received response. For those that choose
loyality to King Great Gamer and being a member of the Strikeforce will
receive a two-handed sword and armour from the king, and the Trolls have made
an offer of 100 sps to all that join in addition to the armour and sword.
King Great Gamer's offer could really help the newer players. With a
two-handed sword and armour, the chance of surviving battle is greatly
increased. The king also realizes how frustrating the beginning days can be,

Capt. Max D. Troll: I would think much of the Capital is the addition of the
New king. I have studied the map that showed the Kingdom prior to the flood,
and have compared it to the maps I now make. Few of the Castles are in the
same location, ay even mighty Troll Keep has moved.
Even the Fredrick's Castle could not have weathered the movement without
sever damage. The Capital is now closer to the old town at 1060(old map) than
it's original 973(old map).
All: Please leave locations of any old ruins to me and I will add them to
my records. Aswell please leave any new construction.
If any are lost Please avail yourself of my services, and I shall try my best
to help.
With the death of Thor, I have taken control of the Keep. The entrance to
the keep shall be limited. This is the location of my map, and where mapping

That Location is the entrance to my Keep. Troll Keep is 50 hexs to the west,

That gate had to be attacked as the Guard inside seemed in such a sleep we
could not wake him. The Troll Keep is opening up a bit as a settlement has
been nagogiated with Krondor and Tempus and Niko are no longer considered
under arrest. Therefore all in our area wishing to join up with the King are
instructed to use the loyalty 'Troll Kingdom' and they will be able to pass
through gate 3223 of the eastern gate then heading south west through 2222
which is open. Then South West again for one hex, then west through 1971,
which has the same Troll Kingdom loyalty, then two hexes west and one south
west to assemble at the Temple to make oaths to the gods and King and then
they shall be outfitted with weapons, armour and the silver mentioned
previously. Two characters at the gates, one outside 2222 and another on the
western gate (Willow) have recieved these instructions in thier Log Message
Files.

The fix has been done in the REG Door which when passwords were changed then
Log Files were not created with the new password's name. This will mean that
once all the characters without Log Files at present have thier Log Files
recreated then this should no longer be a problem except for one rare case
which I would rather not advertise about until fixed. :)
