The windowing has been tested to be operational in the TKC Door. So if you
have an IBM Compat download MORTAL. More windows will be added to retain char.
sketch, surrounding population as well as map scans (which now is operational)
on screen until refreshed. Thus a map scan could be left on screen (the right
side) until the charactetr is moved off the border, then a new scan will
refresh it.

The empty right hand bug has been remidied. Now in exchanging, if it is found
that the right hand is left empty, type 6 (dagger) is supplied to that hand,
so the character will not be lacking a weapon. G&ame Runners could define type
6 weapon as Bare Hands and give it a very low hit damage value, I suppose.

I have enjoyed quite a life in this realm as the mayor of Nortown, lord of
Caritas and more recently the king of the realm. My accomplishments were quite
numerous, with the reconstruction of the Old Capitol being the most notable,
which should stand for generations to come. However, the time has come for
this warrior to pass on from this realm and leave it to the future
generations.
No noble is immortal, but my end was met in a way of dishonor. I was
wounded badly and left to decay at the Dome temple not too long ago by a gang
of assassins, led by one named Ulfgar. I am only thankful that I was able to
regather my thoughts and return to this realm, although briefly, to repent and
clear my concience of the evil I myself have done in my time.
With my passing on from this world, I pass on the second best title in the
realm... the crown of Caritas. It is not as glorious as the crown I wore in my
days of glory, but it none the less has great value, and would enspire anyone
to reach for the greatest gem of the land... such a title as the King of
Caritas could only go to one individual... my crowned prince, Marcus.
Farewell my loyal lords and followers... and Marcus, I do wish you best of
luck against the Goblins, Orcs, and the like. The Caritas Knights should be of
great benefit.

I have just spent a fine afternoon's walk on the southern plains.... I
have found myself just SE of a larged walled complex (4200's), with a Temple
and Market (5795 and 5796, repectively) to my north by about two or three
hours. Near the Temple I encountered a KnightFlyer, who absolutely forbade me
pass him under pain of combat.... Being to wanderlust individual I am, I bade
him good day and went around, curious to see what might be in the Temple of
such worth.
Alas, I found the Temple barred and guarded by archers who, too, bade me
leave or be attacked. I wish to know what goes on in this wilderness temple
that a Knight guards ahead and archers behind? I am but a minstrel, and find
it hard to believe that I am considered a threat to a common temple or village
market. What cause, then, Knight? What cause?

Version 1.92 now has the XANSI window toggle, handled by the MORTAL.COM
terminal package, in Option 2 of the main menu (Character Settings). At the
moment this will turn on XANSI windows but will not turn them off. When using
MORTAL.COM (available in the Download room's directory) the screen is broken
into right and left. Things like the map scan of Option 5 of the Movement Menu
will remain on the right side of the screen until refreshed or a characeter
sketch is choosen, which uses the right side of the screen as well. Players
with IBM compatables are encouraged to use MORTAL for a smoother game play.

A cowardly attacker entered and fled my father's keep and left my father
lying too die. My father's guards were caught off guard, but at least one
which survived was able to report the presence of Fluvius Flyer and Blackspawn
inside the keep. It was quite a surprise to hear that Fluvius Flyer, the
former Council chairperson, sank to the level of attacking lords. It was
reported not too long ago that he was dead, and this report being made by

helped each other in the Dome massacre and mostly likely aided Fluvius this
time for it was you who announced his fake death.
We can reason one of two motives for the cowardly attack: you are trying for
the crown, but with a Council this would be impossible or the other
possibility you're related to the Goblins. For those which don't know, it has
noted that the Goblins were gaining information only a Council member would
have, and I think we now know where that leak was.

I think it likely that Goblins killed your Father not Fluvius, unless he did
it over a month ago, when he was still alive. Perhaps he visited your Keep
long ago on his explorations. I don't see how the incidents could have been

I am a samurai and first and foremost a warrior. From the east I bring
two items, the Katana and the O-yori. The Katana is a single-edged
slightly curved sword ending in a chisel point. It evolved gradually
from the normal sword and is noted for its superior construction and
design. A weaponsmith must labor long hours to achieve the correct
temper of the blade. The result, the blade is light, well-balanced
and combines great strength with flexibility and resilience.
The O-yori is a complete suit of laced armor. It is comprised of
several individual pieces protecting the face, torso and limbs.
It is expensive and highly decorative. Effective AC: 3

The O-yori evolved for two reasons : one, a man encased in
metal could quickly die like a boiled lobster or enscaping
that the rusted joints and weakened plates would eventually
leave a decrepit shell. It is made for maneuverability and
flexibility and most of important, speed. Laced armor
provides protection without weight and bulk.

I would request that any charcter purchasing either item
to use it under the mind it which it was created and not
for the choas of evil but for the promotion of good.
Any dishonorable conduct involving the katana will be
dealt with by my family.

Mining now is available when on Type 4 (Mountain Hex Terrain in The Mall's
Game Configuration). It works as follows. Any character type can mine. The
first time a Terrain Type 4 hex is attempted to be mined, the program will
find the field indicating 'close/open gate' on other hexes, to be open. It
then goes to a routine it will only go to once per Hex of that type. In that
routine it rolls to see the amount of Iron Ore on that hex and place that
value in the IP field and mark the gate as closed.
Whether it be the first time or not the next stage will always take place. A
roll is made to see how much (of the IP Field) a character will be able to
mine that day. Limits will be put in through functions considering Character
Level, etc. so get that Ore while the digging is good. As long as the amount
plus any amount already in his Ore Field (which would indicate he is carrying
it) is less than 32000 then the amount of payload would be added to that
character field.
Hexes are never replenished with Ore during Utility Runs, unlike Farming, and
I thought it would be right to introduce limited resources, which may make
inter-map encounters more appealing in time.

The Armorer in Troll Keep's Game Configuration are type 5 with 75MPs/day under
optimum Encumbrance. They are however at the moment restricted to ALL Terrain
Types, so they would have to move by Squad March only. This is to simulate the
'Smitty Shop' aspect of what they entail. Days are moved forward only one day
for ANY weapon produced at the moment. Also at the moment the cost in Ore
Rations are the same as the SP value of the same thing in the Market. I have
left those routines in the Market Menu during Game Testing the Armorer.
Perhaps his advantage would be that he could take his Armorer to the
BattleField. Perhaps a 'Saving Throw' in the battle routines for swords
breaking and the like, would make him more appealing a character to control.
The character could easily undersell the Market at the moment, so I thought I
would move the Market Prices up soon to find a point where the Armorer becomes
attractive a place to procure weapons and armor, due to the fact that he could
undersell the Market. When that point is found then the Armorer will be
adjusted until a fair cost in time to profit making abilities are smoothed
out. As it is right now with 32000 Iron Ore Rations the character could make a
lot of weapons. Perhaps I should give him Transport Making ability, yet that
belongs more in the Royal Blood Inn discussion area.

OPtion 6 of Option 2 of the main menu (Change Settings) now will load the REG
Door program or REGISTER.CHN. This will be the introduction of version 1.94.
This allows the player all the option available in in the REG Door. Indeed the
REG door is somewhat reduntant and will probably come down once the player's
password is set up to allow access to TWBD and then Option 5 of the main menu
to load different characters. Else new players could not get in to create the
first character. I hope this will lead the way to ease of large army
management.

Nigel, let's get something clear, Great Gamer was by no means a tyrant!
Caritas resents that remark, and we do expect an apology.
Caritas has the strongest army in the realm with the majority of the Caritas
Knights being personally trained under the leadership of the former king,
Great Gamer himself. Our knights are even strong enough to deal with the likes
of the Goblins and their army.
We are already securing the majority of the northern island keeps from the
Goblin vermin. The Caritas Knights are also assisting the Island Guards in
patrolling all of the northern islands. We will also be sending a troop of
soldiers to hunt down the Goblins on the mainland.
During his reign, King Gamer made an offer to his subjects supplying them with
free weapons and armour in exchange for loyality to Caritas and assistance in
defeating our foes. I believe such a offer is needed now. Anyone wanting to
join the ranks of Caritas (the oldest army still surviving) and assist us in
the goals we seek shall have delivered a free katano (700 sp value) along with
field plate mail and shield (3000 sp value) or a fine O-yoroi and katano (5000

not have the full support of the people. I also beg to differ about Cariatas
having the oldest army, the Mighty Troll Amry has been around since the time

Version 1.95 is online for testing. With it the User and REG Door Routines are
installed. When prompted for a password a new player can type NEW and go to
what has been called the USER Door. Once back from that section of
registration he/she can type REG when prompted again for the password. This
will take them to the section of code which had been known as the REG Door.
This REG section is also available within the program in Option 2 of the Main
Menu, sub-menu option 6. I would prefer that this means is used for players
with characters already created, the REG at password prompt only being a means
for brand new players to access that area to create thier first character.

ownership of land). Not too long ago Great Gamer was murdered by Ulfgar and
his troops, and you yourself gave a list of conditions (the disbanding of the
Assassin's Guild being one of them) and then announced your support. If the
Goblins actually did manage to get the crown, would the Trolls send a list of
conditions for Troll support to them?
But enough of this... the Goblins are the main threat and I to haven't seen
the Goblin King's name on the Shareholder's list either.

Paileon Fireside, The fashioning of a katana by a weaponsmith requires three
months of intricate labour, upon manual completition a katana is taken to a
temple and named by priests there. When this is done, the katana is
finished. My katana is known as punisher, the names can vary depending on the
family and religion. The samurai hold the katana as a symbol of devotion, a
personal weapon. To touch the scabbard of the sheathed katana is to insult
the samurai. To draw the blade without permission is an insult. A single
Katana may have been in the same family for generations, becoming a treasured
heirloom. To lose such a weapon is a shameful disgrace that can only be swept
clean by the recovery of the weapon and the punishment of those who have taken
it. Many samurai have given their lives to recover the family's weapon. It
is for all these reasons I wish clarity in my identity and not to be confused
with other oriental groups... such as the ninja. Jito/Captain to the Council,
Stormbringer.

The cercumstances are somewhat startling to say the least. True Genius had
put out feelers with the Merc. Brokers that he was not satisfied with his
present employers as they were poor payers. I made him an offer little
realizing what information he would have for me. He had been employed as a
Mariner by Caritas and had worked openly in that capacity transporting
GOBLINS! When at last both Prince Marcus as well as the Gen. of The Caritas
Knights came onboard, making travelling companions for Goblin General, he felt
things had gone too far. He not only delivered this info but delivered the
